Athens Walking Tours: We can feel the love
2021 has proved up to now a very interesting season. Its menu is manifold and all-inclusive: Multiple scenarios in the air mostly inauspicious, dubious safety measures that are changing every week, vaccination certificates and dilemmas, rapid tests, coronavirus variants and insecurity. This was more or less expected. With the tourism industry counting globally its wounds over the last one and a half year, we have consciously decided to count our blessings. We have been accepting guests since April, and almost everyday since the end of May, and although it requires tons of research, planning, careful organization, day to day briefing, and plenty of versatility, the experience can be extremely rewarding at times. Our guests are usually as happy to see us, as we are to see them. By having managed to reach the country, and eventually the capital, they have managed a small victory, a personal pandemic defeat, and they are thirsty not only for some worry-free good old fun, but also for some history and human connection; it is not simply a matter of desire but it is a matter of a deeper need to see a few humanity landmarks, such as the Parthenon. After all, it is through history that we can verify that humanity has faced some very adverse situations to date, and is still here, alive and kicking, surviving, and always aspiring to better days.
It was in the first reviews we got that we sensed the slight shift. Of course people were still interested in the major aspects of the offered service, and were still reviewing the sites visited, the information received, the food tasted, or the itinerary, but they were also commenting on the human contact more actively than ever, at times even highlighting it over other components of their experience. We were excited to read all the wonderful things they had to say about our guides, our operations staff and our tours:
- "Our tour guide connected Greek mythology with our modern time, and helped us appreciate our shared humanity."
- "Tour was managed perfectly. Our tour guide was the best! He was so nice, patient, humble, and knowledgeable."
- "This is an amazing company. In fact, company is not the right word. They are family right from the start. They took care of me from the moment I made my first reservation."
- "Our guide had a certain verve and passion when explaining and discussing the historical elements from the sights that made you feel that you have travelled back in time and made the experience feel alive."
- "Our guide was absolutely amazing! Not only did she give such an amazing tour but she took great care of us and spoiled us with knowledge of Athens! She was so passionate about her city - you could really tell she was in love with Athens and her kindness was contagious - I truly left wanting to be a better person like her!"
- "Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. It was great to learn so much about the Acropolis, Greek mythology and ancient Greek history. She really provided valuable context to understand its importance. She also gave us the space to take in its beauty. I also just enjoyed talking to her about her pandemic experience and comparing notes. As a tourist, it is hard to get those insights just through observations. We travelled with 3 adolescents and they all were absorbed and inspired. Thank you so much!!!"
Our mission as a company is to have our guests leave the country with wonderful experiences. Experiences that they will share with friends and family which will turn them to ambassadors of this city and of this country and having more than 3.200 excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and 2.200 excellent reviews on Get Your Guide we feel that we are on the right track.
